Bitcoin mining chip designer and data center operator Bitdeer has launched new models in its SEALMINER A2 product line, dubbed the A2 Pro, boasting an efficiency of 14.9 J/TH.

In a press release on Monday, Bitdeer stated that the A2 Pro supports both hydro- and air-cooling modes, each maintaining a power efficiency of 14.9 J/TH—an improvement from the original A2’s 16.5 J/TH and on par with Bitmain’s Antminer S21 Pro.

The A2 Pro Air offers a hashrate of approximately 255 TH/s, while the hydro-cooled version delivers 500 TH/s per unit, according to the release.

Bitdeer previously projected the production of 35 EH/s worth of SEALMINER A2s to be completed by October, with 7 EH/s allocated for external customers.

However, the upgraded model comes amid declining Bitcoin hashprice, which has put pressure on potential buyers. In its February production update, Bitdeer revealed that some customers have requested to delay their final payments for SEALMINER A2s due to lower Bitcoin prices.

“Furthermore, they have also requested alternative purchase options for future generations of SEALMINER machines. As such, Bitdeer plans to redirect SEALMINER A2s previously allocated for external sale to self-mining to avoid idle inventory,” the company stated.

Despite these challenges, Bitdeer expressed confidence that all 7 EH/s will be sold in the near future. While allowing customers to defer their final payments, the company noted that it will retain their down payments on the A2s.
