Bitcoin mining and hosting company Bitdeer has announced the completion of testing for its latest generation bitcoin ASIC, the SEAL02, following tape-out.
Bitdeer announced on Thursday that the verification and prototype tests with its foundry partner TSMC indicated an efficiency of 13.5 J/TH for SEAL02 at “low voltage and ultra power-saving mode.”
The SEAL02 chip will be integrated into Bitdeer’s upcoming SEALMINER A2, with mass production scheduled to begin in November 2024. The company added that the research and development for the next generation SEAL03 bitcoin ASIC is underway.
An efficiency of 13.5 J/TH places the SEAL02 among the most efficient ASIC miners currently on the market, though competitors like Bitmain and MicroBT have already shipped similar products. Last week, Bitmain launched the U3S21EXPH mining system, which features a hashrate capacity of 860 TH/s at an efficiency of 13 J/TH.
The SEAL02 testing so far aligns with Bitdeer’s SEALMINER development roadmap, which the company released in June. Bitdeer previously stated that it anticipated completing mass production of the SEALMINER A1 in Q4 and deploying the equipment in Norway and the U.S.
