Chinese crypto mining hardware giant Bitmain has released a new model within its Antminer S21 series boasting an efficiency improvement to as low as 12 J/TH.
Bitmain rolled out the Antminer S21XP and S21XP Hydro during its World Digital Mining Summit in Las Vegas on Monday. According to the specification disclosed at the event, the air-cooled S21XP has a hashrate capacity of 270 TH/s at an energy efficiency of 13.5 J/TH.
Additionally, the release of S21XP Hydro comes with hydro and immersion cooling models. The hydro-cooling model is said to be able to increase the hashrate output to 473 TH/s at an efficiency of 12 J/TH while the immersion-cooling model offers a normal power mode and a high energy model.
Bitmain’s new product launch comes at a time when bitcoin’s hashprice hovers just above $53/PH/s following the halving event and amid bitcoin’s sluggish price movements.
With an efficiency of 13.5 J/TH, an S21XP would have a daily hashcost of $22.68/PH/s at an assumed energy rate of $0.07/kWh.
This would provide a gross margin of about 57% at today’s bitcoin hashprice, although Bitmain said the product will not be ready for shipment until Q4 2024 or Q1 2025.
