Bitdeer Launches SEALMINER A3 as Bitcoin Mining Arms Race Shifts to Manufacturers

Bitdeer has launched the SEALMINER A3 series, the latest generation of its self-developed Bitcoin mining rigs, while continuing to scale deployments of its earlier A1 and A2 models.
Bitdeer said in a release on Tuesday that the new A3 line consists of four models, including both air-cooled and hydro-cooled variants. The top-end SEALMINER A3 Pro Hydro touts a hashrate of 660 TH/s with a power efficiency of 12.5 J/TH. Other models in the lineup include the A3 Hydro (500 TH/s, 13.5 J/TH), A3 Pro Air (290 TH/s, 12.5 J/TH) and A3 Air (260 TH/s, 14 J/TH).
Bitdeer claimed the A3 series retains the low-noise design of earlier SEALMINERs while lowering power consumption per unit of hashrate, a move aimed at reducing operating costs and meeting the demands of large-scale mining operations. Mass production of the new machines is expected to begin later this month or in early October.
The specifications of the A3 series place it in line with Bitmain’s current Antminer S21 XP product line, which has been shipping in volume. Bitmain, the sector’s largest equipment manufacturer, announced earlier this year the upcoming Antminer S23 series, which is targeting efficiency below 10 J/TH but is not scheduled to ship until the first quarter of 2026.
The launch comes as Bitdeer continues to roll out its earlier hardware generations. As of the end of August, the company had energized 4.1 exahashes per second (EH/s) of SEALMINER A1 rigs and manufactured 27.8 EH/s worth of SEALMINER A2 rigs. Of the A2 machines, 6 EH/s were shipped to external customers, while 18 EH/s have been deployed for Bitdeer’s own operations across the United States, Norway and Bhutan. An additional 2.7 EH/s of A2 rigs were in transit to its sites in Norway and Bhutan, with another 1.1 EH/s being prepared for shipment.
In August alone, Bitdeer energized 7.8 EH/s of SEALMINER A2 rigs, helping boost its realized hashrate by 40% month-over-month. The company mined 375 bitcoin during the month, a 33% increase from July.
Looking ahead, Bitdeer said it is also developing the SEALMINER A4, targeting an efficiency of around 5 J/TH, and is preparing to expand its U.S. manufacturing footprint.
