Compass Expands Bitcoin Mining Hosting with Soluna to 13 MW

Compass Mining has renewed and expanded its hosting agreement with Soluna to grow its Bitcoin mining footprint in West Texas.
In a statement released Tuesday, Compass said it will maintain operations at Soluna’s Project Dorothy 1 site and deploy an additional 8 megawatts (MW) of capacity at the adjacent Dorothy 2 facility—Soluna’s latest buildout. The expansion brings Compass’s total contracted capacity across the Dorothy campus to approximately 13 MW.
The move marks the latest step in Compass Mining’s strategy to scale its hosted infrastructure following a year of steady growth. In 2023, Compass initially deployed machines at Project Dorothy 1 before temporarily relocating some hardware to Soluna’s Project Sophie site.
With its renewed focus on the Dorothy campus, Compass is consolidating and expanding operations at Soluna’s flagship site, which is powered by excess wind energy from the Texas grid. CEO Paul Gosker noted that the expansion allows Compass staff to directly operate the new capacity.
As of June 23, Compass was operating approximately 81 MW of mining capacity, mostly through partner sites to support its clients’ hashrate. Earlier this year, Compass energized the first 8 MW of its proprietary facility in Iowa.
