Bitmain Unveils S23 Bitcoin Miner Touting 9.5 J/TH Efficiency

Bitmain has unveiled its latest Antminer S23 Hydro series at the flagship World Digital Mining Summit (WDMS) 2025, touting an energy efficiency of 9.5 J/TH for bitcoin mining.
According to Bitmain’s keynote speech on Tuesday, the hydro-cooling Antminer S23 delivers up to 580 TH/s with a power consumption of 5,510 watts, achieving an energy efficiency of 9.5 J/TH.
This performance positions it as the most efficient mining rig on the market, catering to miners looking to maximize output while minimizing operational costs in an increasingly competitive environment. The launch underscores Bitmain’s efforts to bolster its presence amid the declining demand for bitcoin hashrate.
During the event, Irene Gao, Bitmain’s president of mining, outlined the company’s strategy to navigate the current downturn in hardware demand. To attract buyers, Bitmain is offering flexible payment terms, including installment options of 40%, 30%, and 30%, and the option to pledge BTC for up to six months to secure orders.
As previously reported, the bargaining power in ASIC hardware deals has shifted decisively toward buyers, as evidenced by recent high-profile deals. CleanSpark, Hut 8, and HIVE have all secured favorable terms for substantial miner orders from Bitmain, leveraging a slowdown in demand and the need for manufacturers to maintain sales amid tightening margins.
Additionally, early buyers will benefit from discounted pricing, with units available at $30 per terahash, and promotional coupons reducing the effective price to $25.5 per terahash. The first shipments are scheduled to begin in Q1 2026.
