Chinese bitcoin ASIC manufacturer Bitmain has introduced new models within its Antminer S21 product line, featuring a hashrate capacity of 319 TH/s and an efficiency of 15 J/TH.
The company unveiled the Antminer S21+ and S21+ Hydro during the Bitcoin Amsterdam event on Wednesday. The hydro version offers a hashrate of 319 TH/s and an efficiency of 15 J/TH, while the air-cooled S21+ provides 216 TH/s with a power efficiency of 16.5 J/TH. Bitmain announced that the S21+ Antminers would be shipped between Q1 and Q2 of 2025.
The introduction of the S21+ models follows Bitmain’s recent launch of the U3S21EXPH mining system, which will host 15 EH/s in collaboration with Hut 8.
The S21+ is less efficient than the S21XP but exceeds the efficiency of the original S21. Bitmain first announced the Antminer S21 product line in October 2023 with the S21 and S21 Hydro models. Subsequently, the company added new machines to the lineup, including the S21 Pro and S21 XP.
Following Bitmain, MicroBT, and Canaan’s launch of the next generation of mining chips in Q4 2023, bitcoin’s network hashrate has steadily increased, despite the bitcoin halving, reaching 700 EH/s and driving bitcoin’s mining difficulty to unprecedented levels.
