Bitcoin mining and colocation firm Digihost has signed a multi-year contract to host 4,640 units of the Antminer S19XP equipment for a leading bitcoin miner manufacturer.
The company said on Tuesday that it expects to power up the miners ahead of the halving event, which is estimated to take place around April 20. Digihost did not elaborate on the exact name of the hosting client but Antminer is the flagship product of Chinese bitcoin miner manufacturing giant Bitmain.
As previously reported, Bitmain has imported more than 50 EH/s of Antminer S19XPs to its subsidiary in the U.S. over 2023. As of June 30, it was leasing more than 100,000 miners to its portfolio company BitFuFu to engage in proprietary mining and cloud mining businesses.
Digihost said it has received an upfront deposit of about $1.8 million and the 4,640 S19XPs, which would provide a combined hashrate of nearly 700 PH/s and utilize 14 megawatts (MW) of hosting capacity.
Digihost mined 95 BTC in February with a realized hashrate of 1.93 EH/s, which represented 96% of its 2 EH/s of installed hashrate.
Notably, Digihost said the hosted miners would increase its total hashrate to 2.4 EH/s, suggesting the deal could be a profit-sharing partnership.
