Compass Mining Energizes 2,400 Bitcoin Miners in Nebraska

Compass was operating 96.7 MW as of Sep. 16

Bitcoin mining colocation provider Compass Mining has energized 2,400 machines at a new partner site in Nebraska, boasting 7.5 megawatts of power capacity.

Compass announced on Wednesday that the new facility, dubbed Nebraska 2, hosts a mix of relocated equipment from its existing Texas 3 and Nebraska 1 sites, along with newly deployed machines. Compass CEO Paul Gosker noted Nebraska 2’s proximity to the company’s Denver repair hub as an advantage enabling faster repairs and reducing downtime.

The Nebraska energization follows recent deployments of 4,000 machines at a partner site in Iowa, increasing Compass’ total managed hashrate to 5 EH/s.

Compass Mining’s facilities status page shows that the company first notified customers in May about plans to relocate their machines from the Texas 3 and Nebraska 1 facilities to another U.S. site. Currently, these two sites are marked with a status of “major outage.”

In August, Compass informed customers that approximately 2,500 relocated units had been redeployed to the Iowa facility, with the remaining Texas 3 miners planned for deployment in Nebraska. They added that the new Nebraska facility was expected to come online starting Sep. 15.

Compass said it had activated around 40 MW of power capacity across sites in Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Nebraska, and Texas so far this year, with plans to add another 30 MW by the year’s end. According to its most recent facilities update, Compass was managing 96.7 MW of hosting capacities as of Sep. 16.
