Chinese bitcoin ASIC chip designer and manufacturer MicroBT has launched new models in its WhatsMiner M60 series, enhancing efficiency to 17 J/TH.
In a speech on Friday at Bitcoin 2024 in Nashville, MicroBT’s founder and CEO, Dr. Yang Zuoxing, announced the air-cooled M60S+, hydro-cooled M63S+, and immersion-cooled M66S+ models, collectively known as the M6XS+ models.
These M6XS+ models are introduced amidst intense competition in the bitcoin mining hardware industry following the recent halving event. Companies are increasingly adopting more efficient mining hardware and advanced cooling techniques.
On Thursday, U.S.-based Auradine announced the initial delivery of its 3-nm bitcoin miners and showcased its AT2880 and AI3690 Teraflux hardware at Bitcoin 2024.
Yang stated that the M6XS+ models offer a wide hashrate range from 190 TH/s to 450 TH/s, all achieving an efficiency of 17 J/TH.
Additionally, Yang introduced the WhatsMiner M64, a new hydro-cooled addition to the M6X product line, featuring a hashrate of up to 206 TH/s at an efficiency of 19.9 J/TH. He mentioned that the M64 could operate with an outlet water temperature of up to 80°C (176°F).
MicroBT initially rolled out the M6X and M6XS product lines in October as part of the launch of its flagship M60 series, escalating the competition in the mining hardware market ahead of the halving event.
