Pennsylvania-based bitcoin mining and colocation firm Mawson has amended a hosting agreement with Consensus Technology Group (CTG), increasing its power capacity to 70 megawatts (MW).
Mawson announced in October that it signed a 50 MW hosting contract to co-locate 15,876 S19XPs for CTG with a total hashrate of about 2.24 EH/s at its Midland, Pennsylvania site.
Mawson said on Wednesday that the two parties have expanded the contract with another 20 MW for an additional 5,880 miners. It did not specify the model of the new batch but the power specification suggests it is likely Bitmain’s Antminer S21. With the amended contract, Mawson is estimated to host about 3.4 EH/s for CTG.
Mawson has not yet published its earnings for the full year of 2023. However, the co-location segment made up 40% of its total revenues for the first three quarters with $11.8 million.
According to CTG’s website, it mainly provides bitcoin miner colocation services as well, boasting 4 EH/s under management across four sites in the U.S.
Mawson did not specify whether CTG’s hosted miners are for its own account or for its customers. However, the image of CTG’s facility in Pennsylvania posted on its website appears to be taken from a different angle of the same site of Mawson’s site in Pennsylvania.
